Crash EVAL:
Analyzing the
Impaired Driver
Hate seeing impaired drivers get off scot free?
Crash EVAL gives you a step-by-step process for rebuilding collisions from the ground up—whether it’s a pedestrian hit, a multi-vehicle chain reaction, or a path intrusion at an intersection. With focused modules on physics, drug influence analysis, Excel-based calculations, and video evidence workflows, this course will sharpen your investigative edge and give you the tools to confidently support your conclusions with facts, not guesses.

What you'll learn
Master constant, uniform, and average acceleration equations—then learn how to apply them in practical crash reset scenarios.
Tackle real-world case studies involving speed-related crashes, head-ons, rear-ends, intersections, and path intrusions—using step-by-step methods you can replicate.
Understand how drug categories affect driver behavior, and learn how to rule out medical or impairment-based causes using a structured approach.
Learn how to build and use Excel templates for drag factor, velocity, kinetic energy, and PRT calculations—so your work is clean, repeatable, and courtroom-ready.
From frame rate interpretation to photogrammetry and brake lamp timing, you’ll learn how to use video as hard data, not just visual evidence.
We’ll show you how to collect acceleration factors, speed data, and other key variables in the field with accuracy—and integrate them into your reports.

No talking-head avatars. No AI-generated robot voiceovers. No lame video script. This training was built by actual instructors who’ve worked real scenes, not failed marketing interns. Every lesson is broken into short, focused videos you can actually finish before your next callout. And yes—most course add up to 15+ hours of legit, actionable content. Mix in real life case files and projects to make you think, not just take up time, and you're on your way to traffic guru.

In the station. On your phone. Between calls. This training works where you work. If you’ve got an internet connection, you’ve got access—no log-in times, no Zoom meetings, no BS. Whether you’re watching from a laptop, a tablet, or the MDT in your cruiser, you’re in control of your pace and your progress.

We ditched the dry lecture format and built something better. From 3D models to augmented reality tools and first-person views, our lessons use creative tech to lock it in. Projects just to take up space and time? Not here, if it's not from a real crash or test, it's not here. This isn’t just training—it’s a crash course in learning the smart way. Built for how you think. Designed to keep you moving.
Syllabus
Module 1
Start with the big picture. Learn how to break down crash sequences, apply core formulas, and use acceleration/time/distance calculations to rebuild movement from impact to rest.
Module 2
Learn how to identify possible impairment based on driver behavior, medical rule-outs, and structured drug influence patterns. Includes full breakdowns of all seven major drug categories and a guided Matrix walkthrough.
Module 3
Crash math doesn’t belong in your head—it belongs in a spreadsheet. This module shows you how to use Excel for calculating speeds, acceleration, time-to-stop, and more. Templates and guided practice included.
Module 4
Use multi-part case studies to apply calculations and crash resets in real scenarios. Walk through kinetic energy evaluation, speed validation, and pedestrian re-work in a hands-on format.
Module 5
Explore time-distance problems and crash timing evaluations involving intersection movement. Learn how to calculate relative velocity, PRT, and TTI from scene evidence and vehicle positions.
Module 6
Tackle momentum and severity assessments for head-on and rear-end impacts. Learn how to apply three different momentum-based approaches and understand the impact of offset and angle.
Module 7
Dive into a case study focused on path intrusion events—where timing, driver reaction, and unexpected maneuvers must be interpreted using video and physical evidence.
Module 8
Break down video files into actionable data. Learn frame rate timing, brake lamp evaluation, velocity estimation from video, and how to remove distortion or confirm authenticity. Wrap up with a full video-based case project.
Module 9
Apply everything you've learned with guided case file submissions. Reconstruct real crashes, run full calculations, and produce reports that reflect courtroom-ready methodology.
Module 10
Learn how to gather variables in the field that feed directly into your calculations—drag factors, walking speed, standard deviation, and environmental variables. Includes a walking speed study you can replicate.
Your instructor

Bobby J. Mullinax is a former police officer and longtime crash reconstruction instructor who’s spent nearly the last two decades helping other investigators sharpen their craft. With 15 years in law enforcement and over 7,000 hours of instructional time, he’s taught agencies across the country how to turn chaos into clarity at the scene of a crash. He’s also the creator behind multiple training programs and tools built specifically for working reconstructionists — cutting through the clutter with real-world workflows, intuitive software, and plain-English instruction that actually sticks.
